JOURNAL ENTRY 6 ( MULTI-MEDIA OF THE ARTICLE )

                                           RAPPORT TALK AND REPORT TALK

Dr. Cheryl indicates that women generally talk to connect and get closer; on the other hand, guys usually talk for pragmatic reasons; they talk to get a solution. Namely, they talk to solve something finished or moving on. Then she explains her opinion about this topic with a few examples and then she makes suggestions both for men and women to understand each other properly. She suggests that men should answer something which is told by a woman with an interest by saying words like 'woovv' because when men do this, women feel the man is with her and he is connected with her, and so conversation goes well. After that, she continues with the suggestions for women. She says if a man tell a problem or a situation, he does not look for women to say like ''Oh honey that sounds tough...'' or something like that. However, if women think of the pragmatic side of it and say ''Would it be helpful...'' or like that, the man feel better and the conversation reaches its goal for men. Therefore, instead of just speaking women and men can reach an agreement or be connected while speaking in this way.
I like the video in terms of its informativeness as Dr. Cherly explains the general position of men and women in communication and then offers suggestions for both men and women. Here is a point that there is many a true word told by Dr. Cherly in this video, so I find it very beneficial for people since it helps them develop a healthy communication.
